Art Warm Up Activities

Here are some fun warm up activities or anticipatory sets that will get students
excited about art class.
Open ended questions
Example: What surfaces can be painted on besides paper?
Scribble
Tell students to make lines, circles, dots, scribbles of all shapes and sizes on
a piece of paper quickly and creatively.
Fantasy Trip
Draw in yor mind: angles, dots, circles, ovals, triangles, curves
Read a Poem about art. Encourage students to find their own poems to bring in
and share.
KWL- Make a KWL chart of what students know about the topic, what they want to
know, and what they learned when they are finished.
Introduce an interesting piece of art and discuss.
Twenty questions about an art concept or object hidden in a bag or box. |
